Documents and renter identification
We normally require at least two valid identity documents, for example an identity card or passport together with a valid driving licence. The details are recorded in the rental agreement.
Vehicle handover and return
The vehicle is handed over at the agreed time and place in a condition suitable for normal use. At the end of the rental, the renter must return it without unnecessary delay to the agreed return point unless another place has been confirmed in advance.
Minimum rental period and billing
The standard minimum rental period is 4 days. Some vehicles may have a higher minimum period, which is shown on the current vehicle detail. Rental is normally calculated in 24-hour blocks according to the confirmed agreement.
Payment, deposit and insurance excess
Rental charges and the refundable deposit are paid in cash in Czech crowns when the vehicle is collected. Vehicles have collision insurance. The exact deposit and insurance excess depend on the particular vehicle and are confirmed in the vehicle detail and rental agreement.
Late return
After the agreed return time, a late-return charge of CZK 100 is applied for each started hour until the vehicle is returned.
Foreign travel
Foreign travel is currently suspended and the vehicle may not be taken outside the Czech Republic. If this option is enabled again, travel abroad will require prior written approval from the rental company. The renter will also have to arrange assistance/insurance covering towing back to the Czech Republic and, in the event of a breakdown, accident or natural event abroad, arrange and pay for returning the vehicle to the agreed handover point in the Czech Republic.
Drivers and prohibition on handing the vehicle to another person
The vehicle may be driven only by persons named in the rental agreement. Normally a maximum of 2 drivers are permitted. The renter may not let another person who is not included in the agreement use the vehicle.
Care of the vehicle, fuel and cleanliness
The renter must keep the vehicle in a condition comparable with the condition at handover, allowing for normal wear. The vehicle is returned washed, clean and vacuumed. The fuel level on return must not be lower than at handover; missing fuel may be charged according to the rental agreement.
Prohibitions: smoking, animals and improper use
Smoking in the vehicle is prohibited. Transporting animals is also prohibited. The renter must not damage the interior or exterior and should not leave vehicle documents or valuables unattended inside the vehicle.
Accident, damage or vehicle fault
After an accident, the renter must make the situation safe, contact the police when required, document the incident and contact the rental company immediately. If a technical fault occurs, stop the vehicle when safe and contact the rental company without delay. Repairs must not be arranged without approval.
Fines and traffic offences
All fines and sanctions arising from traffic offences during the rental period are the responsibility of the renter. The renter is responsible for the use of the vehicle during the rental period.
Charges for keys, documents, registration plates and excessive soiling
Loss or damage of keys or remote control may be charged at CZK 5,000. Loss or damage of vehicle documents or a registration plate may be charged at CZK 5,000. Permanent seat damage or burns may be charged at CZK 10,000, wet interior cleaning at CZK 2,500 and excessive exterior soiling at CZK 200. The actual charge is governed by the rental agreement and the real condition of the vehicle on return.
Vehicle theft and security
When leaving the vehicle, the renter must secure it against theft and must not leave documents or valuables inside. In the event of theft, the renter is required to cooperate fully and may be liable for damage or for the difference between the market value and the insurer’s payment according to the rental agreement.
GDPR and vehicle geolocation
Personal data is processed for performance of the rental agreement, legal obligations and protection of legitimate interests. A rented vehicle may be equipped with a geolocation system used only for legitimate operational or exceptional purposes, such as locating the vehicle, until it is returned. Details and contacts for exercising data-protection rights are stated in the rental documentation.
This page is a practical overview. The signed rental agreement is always binding.
